Our first stop will be the Denver Art Museum to view the current exhibit, Georgia O’Keeffe in New Mexico: Architecture, Katsinam, and the Land, featuring 53 O’Keeffe works chronicling her artwork created in New Mexico. The exhibition brings to light a relatively unknown aspect of Georgia O’Keeffe’s art and thinking; her deep respect for the diverse and distinctive cultures of northern New Mexico.

From Denver, the tour will travel through the South Central Colorado Rockies as we make our way to Northern New Mexico. The first night will be spent at a Bed and Breakfast in the San Luis Valley before we continue into New Mexico the next morning. On the second day, we will visit the lands around Chama and Abiquiu, where Georgia O’Keeffe spent her days painting the landscapes. We will tour her home and studio at Ghost Ranch and explore the surrounding area, before spending the night at the Abiquiu Inn.

Our journey will continue with a scenic drive from Abiquiu to Taos, where we will spend the next night. The following day will provide time to visit galleries, shops and museums before attending a reading in the afternoon from Weekends with O’Keeffe by Carol Merrill, the Ghost Ranch librarian. Departing from Taos in the afternoon, we will travel to Santa Fe to spend the last night. In the morning, we will visit the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and view two special exhibits; “Annie Leibovitz’s Pilgrimage” and “Georgia O’Keeffe and the Faraway: Nature and Image”. After the museum tour, there will be time for lunch and enjoying Santa Fe before departing for the return trip to Colorado.
